I grew up in the north of England in a family that looked loving from the outside but carried traditions and expectations I never fully understood. At 17, my future was taken out of my hands. I ran away from home so I could study but when I was tricked into coming back, I was taken to Pakistan on a “holiday” where I was forced into a marriage I never chose. What followed were years of captivity, silence and survival - and eventually, a long, determined journey toward freedom.

I rebuilt my life piece by piece. I built a global career in the IT industry, working across the UK, Malaysia, Australia and Globally. I raised my voice slowly, first through poetry in Murmurs of the Soul and now through my memoir Somebody Else’s Life, published by Vanguard Press.

I write because too many girls and women still face the same impossible choices I did. I write because silence protects the wrong people and I write because I want anyone who feels trapped by family expectations they never agreed, to know that survival is possible - and a life on your own terms is within reach.

Today I live in Australia, continuing my work in tech while building a platform for women’s stories, resilience and self‑determination. My hope is that my book opens a conversation that has been ignored for too long - and helps others reclaim the life that should have always been theirs.
